Want to study in Australia? – Here is some important information!

a (2)

Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP), Australia has issued a strong warning and guidelines to students and agents who are promoting overseas education in Australia. DIBP is concerned mainly with the increase of fraudulent loan letters and other financial documents when students apply for the visa.

It has become the responsibility of agents sending students to Australia, to provide a genuine summary of student’s access to funds – amount of funds available, the bank/source where are funds are available and the source of funds. Now, this has become a mandatory requirement of Australian High Commission (AHC) when they process student visas.

Where evidence of funds is required, the applicant has to provide one of the following:

1) Evidence of funds for 12 months – evidence of funds to cover travel to Australia, 12 months’ living costs for themselves and accompanying family members, tuition fees and schooling costs for school aged children.

The following types of funds are acceptable evidence of financial capacity:

  1. a) money deposit with a financial institution;
  2. b) loan with a financial institution;
  3. c) government loans;
  4. d) scholarship or financial support.

2) Evidence of annual income – the student can provide evidence of personal income of their parents or spouse / de facto partner of at least AUD$60,000. The parents or spouse / de facto partner cannot be traveling with the student to Australia. The evidence must be in the form of official government documentation, such as a tax assessment.

3) Evidence of genuine access to funds. This will be determined by the source, type of funds and the financial institution providing such evidence.

It is very important to note that the financial institution is an approved one by Reserve Bank of India.

In case if the AHC suspects that a particular document was issued fraudulently, this information will be reported to RBI. Unless the matter is investigated and cleared, a visa will not be issued.

At Manhattan Review, we advise all our students to submit only genuine documents so the admission and visa process is completed successfully.

And, we make sure that you reach Australia without any complications!

Wish you all the best,

Team Manhattan

10 Strategies to follow to get a big score: 320 Plus in GRE

image (1)

  1. Study Time

Allocate proper (regular) “study time”. Night, Day or Noon is your choice. It should be between 3 – 6 hours, which depends on your broad planning. This is generally based on how long you can take each study session. Eat healthy food, sleep well and enjoy your study time.

  1. Short Breaks

Take short breaks to make your GRE test preparation in a best possible way. However, it is a matter of choice. But, it is useful and gives the brain time to rewind. This is turn helps to absorb more intelligent data (or answers).

  1. Learn Words

Spend a good amount of time in learning words. Make sure that you make a word list of more than 2000. A vocabulary knowledge of 1000 frequently used words is a must. Flash cards are a good way of remembering a good number of words. They remain fresh in your memory.

  1. Prioritize

A diagnostic test in the beginning of your preparation for GRE examination will help you to assess your weaknesses. Check where you went wrong. If you score 304, it means you need to put in an extra hour of study for scoring 320 plus.

  1. Identify Your Flaws And Strengths

Make a quick find of your flaws and strengths. If you are comfortable with passages then shift your focus on sentence completion. This ability to switch gears will give the confidence to score 320 plus. Don’t spend time at all on second answering option.

  1. Plan Solutions

Solutions in Quant and Verbal sections must be done within the time frame given in each section of the GRE test. Pick out the wrong options as soon as possible. The correct answer choice with the application of critical reasoning will increase your score level.

  1. GRE Pattern

To get familiar with GRE test pattern make good use of Practice Drills and Mock Tests. They give the right direction to score 320 plus in an easy and relaxed manner. When you look for new solutions you end up on the wrong side.

  1. Difficult Questions

Don’t waste time on difficult questions thinking over the content of the sentence and the tone of the test-maker (ETS). Keep them for answers at the end of each section after providing solutions for easy questions first. Move forward to the next easy question.

  1. Elimination Process

Make good use of elimination process. It is the best strategy to follow in getting the answering right. Narrow your choice to two answers and pick out the correct one. But, plan your time so as to manage time accordingly. When you are well prepared for the GRE test, the first answer choice is correct.

  1. Manage Stress

Stress management is the key to a big GRE score of 320 plus. In Reading Comprehension look for the answer in the paragraphs. Don’t look at the questions. Outline what you want to write first before you start writing.

Bachelor’s education – USA or Europe?

a

Given the stark differences between the education systems in USA and Europe and the lack of proper information to study (at the Bachelor’s level) in Europe, it is important to know facts about studying in either of these locations.

General Education is considered as ‘essential’ in US universities, which covers a broad range of programs such as Music, photography, sports and many other co-curricular and extra-curricular fields of activity. This will impart a strong base of students to study a wide range of programs – not only those that are academically important, but also personally interesting. Additionally, general education emphasizes skills such as writing and critical thinking and expose students to a variety of subject areas. Also, students can choose a major after two years of studying, in the meanwhile explore their field of interest.

In European countries, this type of general education is not available and students who are joining the Bachelor’s programs are expected to ‘choose’ a focus area while applying for colleges. This will severely restrict the learning capability of students who may want to explore more areas and wider fields of learning to decide on their career direction.  While it helps to choose a subject from the start and able to focus on those areas in-depth and prepare for the job market or for continuing onto a master’s degree, it also has its disadvantages”.

European bachelor’s degrees are three-year programs that are too structured, which doesn’t give students a lot of freedom to explore.

Also, ‘liberal arts’ education emphasizing on learning in subjects such as social sciences, arts, and humanities are available in all US universities/colleges, whereas European universities rarely offer such an option. This restricts the learning ability and choice of students, who want to explore multiple options before they decide on a particular ‘major’ or specialization to continue with their studies. Of course, for international students who are ready with a focus, going for a 3-year degree, directly into their chosen field of study could be an advantage.

Another advantage is US colleges is the scope to internationalize their learning, participation in various events through student-clubs and a better campus life. Comparatively, European colleges offer limited scope for such wider participation and exposure.

Most importantly, except in the UK, almost all other countries offer education in their native language (non-English), which is a major deterrent for Bachelor’s applicants. While most European universities are offering Master’s level education in English, very few are offering at the Bachelor’s level. Such problem does not exist in US universities since the medium of education is only English.

Finally, for those international students with merit, financial aid is possible even at the Bachelor’s level in most US universities. Though rare and difficult, funding is a good possibility for top-performing students here. Whereas, in Europe, financial aid is virtually difficult, if not impossible.

It is therefore important for international students to choose the country/continent to make a very informed decision to invest huge sums of money into their education and ultimately their career.

TOP 10 TIPS TO CRACK THE GRE VERBAL

TOP 10 TIPS TO CRACK THE GRE VERBAL

  1. Power Preparation

The Practice Drill and Mock Tests in GRE Verbal give you the scores you expect to score in the real examination. This could be a little less than a big score of 320 plus. All you need to do is to list out the questions. Thereafter, reason out the mistakes you made in them.

  1. Vocabulary

In GRE Verbal, a word is used with several meanings in different contexts. To avoid falling into word choice trap make a chart of synonyms. Start placing them where it can be used correctly. Remove all confusion by memorizing them.

  1. More Practice

You got to burn more practice time with an intensive understanding of the GRE Verbal curricula. Once you analyze your mistakes make no repetitions during Practice Drills. In Reading Comprehension you need to get more practice of looking for answers first in the paragraph.

  1. Time Management

This is the most important area where you can increase your GRE score to optimum levels. You have to answer every question as there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Don’t use more than “one minute” to get to the best possible answer.

  1. Reading Comprehension

Attempt this section in the last part of GRE Verbal examination. The right strategy you need to apply to apply here is read the question intensely. Thereafter, look for an answer in the paragraphs. Never make the mistake of spending time by reading the paragraph first.

  1. Additional RC Answering Tip

The questions in RC are arranged according to the answers that will be there in the paragraph. Therefore, it is very easy to sort out them out in order and answer accordingly. It is the easiest strategy you can adopt to make answering in a relaxed and perfect manner.

  1. Strategy for Trapping the Answers

Cover the answer choices on the screen by touching them physically as you read the questions. There is trap hidden by the GRE Verbal testers. They very well know that the students are looking for synonyms. Read the question first and make the answer choices that will complete it.

  1. Sentence Equivalence and Text Completion

All you need to do is use knowledge of context. Even while making a guess apply critical reasoning skills. You will get the right answer.

  1. 320 Plus Score

Keep in mind the score of 320 plus. It motivates your mind to go for it. This is a tip that helps you to choose the right answer option. Definitely, you will end up a big score.

  1. Practice Drills and Mock Tests

The real GRE Verbal exam is much easier than the one in practice drills and mock tests. It is important to understand that you do not carry GRE test-prep into the examination hall. You will be on the winning edge.

My Germany Experience

df

Sowmiya Rani K S, Plant Biotechnology, University of Osnabrueck
The idea of surviving a foreign land and language had held my fascination since then. Little did I know that four years and a little daughter later, I will embark on this adventure myself.  My work was at a point where it needed a robust model insect, technical expertise and laboratory facilities to work on the challenges of realizing RNAi as species-specific, environment-friendly insecticides. I was inspired by the work of my now co-supervisor at the University of Osnabrueck and the ‘DAAD Sandwich Scholarship’ seemed the logical choice… Read more

This leads to establishing the entire Augsburg city as a stable power island. The entire project was funded by German Bundestag and its implementation… Read more
